Pathways

In Year 9, students begin the process of choosing the subjects they would like to study in Year 10 and Year 11.  The Pathways process is closed for this year, but please direct any enquiries to the Head of Year. 

 We help students to make good choices in a number of ways:

• Advice from their teachers

• Carry out work with their tutors and receive careers advice.

• Interviews with Further Education providers and Senior Leaders 

• Provide a ‘Pathways Booklet’ that contains information about the KS4 courses available. 
  
  

EBacc and Non-EBacc Pathway

Our two main pathways are designed to suit the majority of our students. Students have been selected for a pathway based on their current progress and prior attainment. 

The EBacc pathway requires students to study at least one foreign language and either History or Geography along with one further subject choice.  

The Non-EBacc pathway requires students to select either History, Geography or a language and then two additional subject choices. 

 Vocational Pathway

Selected students will be invited to join our Vocational Pathway which is a package of courses designed to be more accessible for students studying at entry level or level 1 during year 10 and 11. Students cannot choose this pathway; a letter will be sent to parents/carers of students who might benefit from this option. However, if you do not receive a letter and feel your child will benefit from this pathway, please let us know.

Relationship, Sex and Health Education

This is a compulsory course at Key Stage 4. More information can be found under RSHE on our subjects page.

Plus

Students in the Higher 3 Maths sets will be able to study 糖心Vlog Statistics as part of their Maths lessons in Year 10. This will provide those students with an extra 糖心Vlog and will be examined at the end of Year 10.  

Pathways

PLEASE NOTE: Students are not able to choose this Vocational Pathway directly.  We will carefully assess those who might benefit and letters of invitation will be sent to parents. However, if you do not receive an invitation and feel your child would benefit from this pathway, please let us know.

OUR COMMITTMENT

We seek to ensure that, as far as possible, every student is able to embark on the courses for which they have expressed a preference. In a few cases, it may be impossible to timetable some combinations of subjects. We ask that all students have a back-up subject in case this applies to them. It will be necessary in some subjects to offer further guidance to particular students as to the appropriateness of their preferences.
